Welcome

Lynchburg is a small and loving community. We have taken care of one another following tornados, floods, derechos, and ice storms. We will get through this unprecedented difficult time by listening to the scientists about ways to stay safe, and by staying connected to each other. The Serenity Prayer is helpful in such uncertainty, and is applicable even if you are not a spiritual person. "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change those things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Stay safe and well. We are here for you.

Our practice has provided counseling services in the Central Virginia area for 32 years. Our two therapists have more than sixty years of combined experience in the areas of mental health and addiction recovery services. We strive to help adults, children, adolescents, families, and couples achieve their life goals and work through obstacles and problems that they may experience in their lives.

The owners of our practice are Elizabeth Jenkins and Melisa Stone . Elizabeth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and is one of the co-founders of James River Counseling Center. Melisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor; she joined the practice in 2011.

In addition to these owners/clinicians, our office contracts with three other independent, licensed therapists who rent space from our practice on a part-time basis. They are separate legal entities from James River Counseling Center. In our office, there are a variety of clinicians with the expertise to address many issues in the areas of personal growth, mental health, substance abuse, and family relationships.

Our office is conveniently located off the Lynchburg  Expressway at 1120 McConville Road, Suite A, Lynchburg , VA .
